Tennis Clinics

DTC periodically offers free tennis clinics for youth and adult beginners. These clinics are designed to welcome new players into the sport.

  • Announcements: Check our social calendar or follow us on social media for updates.
  • Notifications: Members receive email notifications about upcoming clinics.

DSHS Courts Use

The courts on 14th Street are shared through a partnership between the Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD) and the City of Davis. This shared-use agreement ensures access for both the public and DTC members.

Key Guidelines:

  • Court Access: Use the eastern entrance along the bike path.
  • Priority Use: Courts are prioritized for Davis High PE classes and tennis teams over public or league play.
  • Campus RespectPlease do not enter the DSHS campus or cross restricted areas.

Our Role:

  • Collaborate with DJUSD and the City to maintain and clean the courts.
  • Promote safe and respectful use of the facilities.

Your cooperation helps preserve this vital partnership and supports the tennis community in Davis. Thank you for your understanding!

Local Leagues

Free Local League Singles Play for Members!

We’re excited to announce that Davis Tennis Club is launching free local league play for all members! Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, there’s a league for you.

How It Works

Each league will have up to five players competing over 4-5 weeks, providing a great opportunity to meet fellow tennis players, improve your game, and enjoy semi-competitive match play. We’re kicking things off with singles leagues, but more formats may be introduced in the future!

The leagues are self-managed through MyTennis.Space (a new site developed by our board member Jonas Persson). DTC will provide scheduling and league administration through MyTennis.Space, but match logistics are up to the players. You and your opponent will coordinate a time and location that works best for both of you. Each player should bring a new can of balls to the match – the winner takes home the unopened can!

Joining is as easy as 1, 2, 3

1. Create your account at https://mytennis.space

2. Apply to join the “Davis Tennis Club” in MyTennis.Space on the “Clubs” page

3. Join the league that matches your skill level on MyTennis.Space.

Leagues will begin as soon as they fill up, or no later than April 12th—so sign up today!

Note that membership with the Davis Tennis Club is required to participate in these local leagues and you can sign up here!

Got questions? Jonas is happy to help! Contact him at [email protected] or reach out through MyTennis.Space.

Come for the fun, competition, and community, and maybe even take home a trophy! 🏆

Drop-ins

We are fortunate to have a group of dedicated local players who organize “drop-in” tennis sessions throughout the city. These sessions are independent of the DTC but are listed on our website to help promote tennis in our community. While player ability levels are recommended, the sessions are flexible and welcoming to all. Additionally, Dale Hersch offers affordable clinics for beginners.

Davis Senior High School/Community Park Courts Drop-in Tennis

  • No email reminders are sent—simply show up on the designated days.
  • The format is primarily doubles, though singles play may occur depending on attendance.
  • Play follows a rotating format with shorter “sets,” allowing for partner changes.
  • Sessions take place in all weather conditions, except during rain.
  • While the organizer may not always be present, regular participants typically facilitate the games.
  • All genders and skill levels are welcome, but these sessions are best suited for players who can maintain a rally.
  • Recommended for players with skill levels between 2.5 and 3.5, although all genders and levels are welcome.

Tuesdays and Thursdays – 7:30-9:30 PM

Tennis Courts

The City of Davis maintains several two-court complexes throughout the city, in addition to the four courts at Walnut Park in South Davis. The DTC will utilize email, newsletters, and select social media channels to keep members informed of any changes in court availability.

For detailed maps of City tennis courts locations in Davis, please visit the Parks & Community Services website or view this comprehensive list of tennis court locations and information in Davis and Woodland (including number of lighted courts).

Tennis Ball Recycling Program

The DTC is proud to partner with RecycleBalls (recycleballs.org) to collect, reuse, and recycle old tennis balls. Please look for the bright blue recycling container at the courts to dispose of your used tennis balls.

Lost Something at the DSHS Courts?

If you’ve lost an item at the DSHS courts, please check with Dale Hersch (Club Pro) on-site. Any unclaimed items will be stored in the DTC clubhouse and donated at the end of each year.

If your item is not with Dale, please contact us at [email protected]. DTC volunteers will assist in locating your lost item and can arrange a pick-up time if we have it.

As a volunteer-run organization, please allow several days for us to respond. We appreciate your patience.
