Davis Tennis Club FAQs

What is the Davis Tennis Club?  We are a community based non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote the game of tennis in the City of Davis.

Where is the Davis Tennis Club located?   The Davis Tennis Club is not a brick-and-mortar tennis club.  Our members and the general public use the City of Davis’s public courts in town, the Davis Joint Unified School District’s courts at Davis Senior High School, and the courts at UCD on a first-come-first-served basis.   The DTC does have a small “clubhouse” at the 14th street DSHS courts.  The clubhouse is used for social and league events.

Why should I join the Davis Tennis Club?  The DTC provides leadership and advocacy for court maintenance and access, protecting the balance of tennis courts and pickle-ball courts in town, enabling league and tournament play as well as youth programming.  Our organization’s unique agreement with the School District allows for permitted use of the 14th street courts allowing residents the ability to participate in USTA and SATA league play.  Your membership dues help us with our operating costs and community outreach.

How much does it cost to join?  DTC memberships are only $40 per year for an individual player.  We offer associate membership to members of the Woodland Tennis Club ($20/year).  Our membership runs on the calendar year schedule and is not pro-rated.

Can’t I just join a private tennis club?  Not in Davis.  The only private club is Stonegate Country Club, but it is open only to local residents of the Stonegate community.

What sort of tennis does the City Parks and Community Services offer?  NONE.   The City of Davis does maintain their many courts but has NOT offered tennis programming since 2014.

What if I want to take a lesson?  Under the Davis Tennis Club umbrella, two USPTA teaching professionals offer private and group lessons, drop-ins and youth programming at the 14th street courts.

How can I meet more players?  The DTC has a Facebook group that members can join to meet other players.  There are drop-in groups offered in evenings.  Our DTC leadership and coaches can help introduce you to players of similar levels.  As a member you will be notified of our tennis socials throughout the year as well.
